Born about 1841, Isaac Hammond enlisted in Company F, 80th New York Infantry 17 December 1863. He, along with his regiment, was in Richmond in 1865. He gathered materials from the state and Confederate archives. Hammond took these items back to New York after his regiment was mustered out of the army 29 Janaury 1866 in Portsmouth, Virginia. After his death, the items were given to the Huguenot Historical Society in New Paltz, New York.
