Biographical History
Beach, a naval officer, was the author of Run Silent, Run Deep.
Edward Latimer Beach (1918-2002) served in the U.S. Navy from 1935 to 1966, and was commander of the U.S.S. Amberjack from 1948 to 1949. He was a naval aide and assistant to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff from 1949 to 1951. He commanded to U.S.S. Trigger, 1951-53, then was a naval aide to President Eisenhower from 1953 to 1957. After service with the Eisenhower administration, Beach commanded the U.S.S. Salamonie and the U.S.S Triton 1960. He served at the U.S. Navy Department, Washington, DC, from 1963 to 1966, during which time he was stationed at the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island.
