Sculptor/assemblage artist and arts administrator; Joshua Tree, Calif. d. 2004

He attended Chouinard Art Institute from which he received his BFA in 1954. Purifoy was founder and first director of the Watts Towers Art Center in Los Angeles, Calif. and co-founder of the Watts Summer Festival.
