Biographical History
Historian. Migrated to Australia in 1835. Agent for national schools in Pt. Phillip District 1849, Clerk of Victorian Legislative Council 1856. Author of National Education (1853), History of Australia (1883), History of New Zealand (1883) and other historical and literary works.
George Rusden, historian, was appointed Under-Secretary in the Colonial Secretary's office in Melbourne in 1851, clerk of the Executive Council in 1852 and clerk of the Legislative Council in 1856. His publications include Fiji: its political aspect, History of Australia, and History of New Zealand, National education, Curiosities of colonization, and The discovery and exploration of Port Philip.
Historian. Author of History of Australia; History of New Zealand, etc. In 1849, agent for the establishment of national schools in the Port Phillip district; 1852, Clerk of the Executive Council; 1856, Clerk of the Legislative Council. Largely responsible for the foundation of the Shakespeare Scholarship of the University of Melbourne.
