Biographical History
Musician, teacher, and performer.
William King Driggs Sr. (1885-1965) was a Mormon composer and patriarch of the King Family singers.
William King Driggs Sr. was born on October 30, 1885 in Pleasant Grove, Utah. He was a music teacher, but when his salary failed to support his growing family, he formed a family orchestra with his wife Pearl and eight children (Karleton, Maxine, Luise, Alyce, Donna, Yvonne, Bill, and Marilyn) and moved his family to California. They were known as "The Driggs Family of Entertainers" and became well know for their performances in theatres, clubs, schools, and churches in the Western United States. While still in junior high school, Maxine, Luise, and Alyce, the three oldest daughters, adopted their fathers middle name and formed their own vocal group: The King Sisters. William King Driggs, Sr. died on April 6, 1965.
