Biographical History

The 391st Bomb Group Association (BGA) was created by veteran members of the 391st Bomb Group, a B-26 Marauder group that fought during World War II. This Marauder group was activated and moved to England in January and February of 1944, the group's combat operations began on February 15, 1944. The 391st participated in Air Offensive, Europe; Normandy; Northern France; Rhineland; Ardennes - Alsace; and Central Europe. Col. Gerald E. Williams acted as commander of the bomb group for the entirety of the war. The group was inactivated on October 25, 1945. The BGA formed October 4-6, 1974. The meeting occurred in Colorado Springs, Colorado. and is regarded as the first official reunion of the 391st BGA. Bill Brooks, Woodrow Fry, and Hugh Walker presided over the event and were voted in as officers. Activities for the group include bi-annual reunions meant to maintain camaraderie among the members and a Bomb Group history book, written by Hugh Walker, co-founder and group historian. The 391st BGA still exists to this day.
