Biographical History

The National Building and Construction Trades Department, AFL-CIO in 1973 granted the charter to create the Upper Peninsula Building and Construction Trades Council. The U.P. Building and Construction Trades Council received jurisdiction over all fifteen counties in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. In 1984, the Department became the Upper Peninsula Construction Council. The UPCC is a private, nonprofit corporation established to facilitate communication and foster teamwork between contractors and unions.The member contractors and trade unions pledge their commitment to provide the best skilled workforce and produce the highest quality construction services for our customers. The UPCC has been serving the Upper Peninsula and its 4000 members since 1984.
