Biographical History
Born in Scotland. Arrived in Australia in 1885, was active in the Amalgamated Miners Union, represented Gympie in State Parliament 1893-1896 and 1899-1901. Held federal seat of Wide Bay 1901-1915 and was 3 times Australia's Prime Minister, 1908-1909, 1910-1913, and 1914-1915.
Prime Minister of Australia in 1908-1909, 1910-1913 and 1914-1915. Fisher resigned office to become Australia's High Commissioner in London from 1915 to his retirement in 1921. Charlie Bailey and his wife were friends of the Fishers when they lived in Gympie, prior to Andrew Fisher entering Federal politics.
Andrew Fisher was Prime Minister of Australia in 1908-1909, 1910-1913 and 1914-1915. He resigned from office to become Australia's High Commissioner in London from 1915 to his retirement in 1921.
