Paul C. Aiken was born on July 24, in Macksville, Kansas, the son of Robert Emmett Aiken and Florence Eva Case. He received his A.B. from the University of Kansas in 1929 and his LL.B (1934) and LL.M. (1935) from George Washington University. Aiken married Camilla Lindsay on August 20, 1933. From 1941 to 1942 he worked at the law firm of Miller and Hornbeck in Cleveland, Ohio. He was a colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves, and served in the Office of Military Government in the U.S. Zone in Germany. He was the Director of the Speakers' Bureau of the Democratic National Committee in 1936 and 1940, and served as the Assistant Postmaster General of the United States from 1947 to 1950. Aiken was a democratic nominee for U.S. Senator from Kansas in 1950. He died on May 25, 1974.
