Albert Boyd (b. Nov. 22, 1906, Rankin, Tenn.-d. Sept. 18, 1976), major general in the U.S. Air Force, completed flying training and was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the Air Corps in 1929. Early in his career he served as a flying instructor, engineering and operations officer, secretary of the Air Corps Technical School, and chief engineering officer at the Hawaiian Air Depot. During World War II he served in a number of posts in the U.S. with the Air Service Command (later designated as the Air Technical Service Command): chief of the maintenance division, deputy commander of the 8th Air Force Service Command, and chief of the Flight Test Division acting as an experimental test pilot. After the War, he set a world speed record in 1947, and was commanding general of the Air Force Flight Test Center at Edwards Air Force Base, then commander of the Wright Air Development Center at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. He retired from Air Force service in November 1957.
