Charles Hudson (1795-1881) was born in Marlborough, Mass., and died in Lexington, Mass. He was ordained in 1821, and served as pastor of the First Universalist Church in Westminster, Mass., from 1824 to 1842. He later broke this affiliation and helped found the Massachusetts Society of Universal Restorationists. While still and active minister, Hudson held many political offices: Massachusetts House of Representatives, 1828-1833; Massachusetts Senate, 1833-1839; Whig member of Congress, 1841-1849; naval officer of the port of Boston, 1849-1853; and others. His publications include: _History of the Town of Lexington ..._ (Boston, 1868); _History of the Town of Westminster ..._ (Mendon, Mass., 1832); _Life and Character of Major Pitcairn_ ([Boston, 1880]); and many others.
