Biographical History

Civic worker and author, Jacobs attended Bryn Mawr, 1919-1921; wrote for women's magazines; served as secretary of the United Nations Council (later the World Affairs Council of Philadelphia), traveling to India and the Middle East under its auspices; ran unsuccessfully for the Philadelphia School Committee, 1949; served on the boards of the National Urban League, the New York Urban League, the American Civil Liberties Union, and Planned Parenthood of Philadelphia; and was president of the National Council of Women, 1960-1963. She married Reginald Robert Jacobs in 1921; they were divorced in 1937.
