Pioneer in children's dance education, born in Salt Lake City, Utah; founded the Children's Dance Theatre in Salt Lake City in 1949 and was instrumental in the formation of the Repertory Dance Theatre, a Salt Lake City-based modern dance company, in 1966. She studied with Doris Humphrey in the 1930s and graduated from the University of Utah in 1941. She taught at the McCune School of Music and Art, a branch of Brigham Young University, and at her Conservatory of Creative Dance; she was also director of creative dance in the University of Utah's Division of Continuing Education. In the early 1970s she helped develop a national program for dance education through the National Endowment for the Arts' Artists-in-the-Schools Program.
