Biographical History

Addison W. McPheeters, Jr. was a United States (U.S.) Army private during the Civil War. He saw service at Fronton, Missouri; Murfreesboro, Tennessee; Elmira, New York; and Camp Douglas, Rock Island and Chicago, Illinois. Addison was with the 21st Illinois Infantry Regiment and was transferred to the 11th Regiment, United States Veterans Reserve Corps (VRC) on August 1, 1863 and served as a prison guard. Addison was mustered out of the VRC in 1864. Rankin P. (Pogue) McPheeters was an enlisted man and then an officer in the U.S. Army during the Civil War. Most of his service was with the 126th Illinois Infantry Regiment. He saw action in Tennessee, Mississippi, and Arkansas. Rankin P. McPheeters and Addison W. McPheeters, Jr. were twin brothers.
