Biographical History

Kathryn Simmons Johnson was born on October 12, 1913. She was a native of Pike County, Mississippi. She was an English teacher and librarian for Reeves High School. She received her bachelor's degree from Northwestern State University and Master's Library Science from Louisiana State University. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority and did postgraduate work at four other universities. She was in Who's Who of American Women 1977-1978. Her novel The Only Tune won first place at the Deep Writer's Conference. She published numerous poems, short stories, and the book Patteran. Her husband George Herbert Johnson was a long-time principal of Reeves High School. Mrs Johnson died on September 18, 2000, in Kinder, Louisiana.
