Biographical History

From 1968 until his retirement in 2000, Carlyle Weiss was a professor of the Music Arts for the University of Wyoming where he directed choral activities and many regional, national and international concert tours. Weiss founded the Wyoming State Choir and conducted several Japanese choirs while on sabbatical in Japan in 1987. In 1977 Weiss earned the Outstanding Faculty Member Award for his accomplishments in expanding knowledge of the Music Arts.

From 1968 until his retirement in 2000, Carlyle Weiss was a professor of the Music Arts for the University of Wyoming. After studying Music at Indiana University and the American University in Washington D. C., he became an assistant professor in Music at Queens College, Charlotte, North Carolina, where he directed an International European Studies program and took the Queens College Concert Choir on a tour to England and Northern Europe. Weiss joined the faculty at the University of Wyoming in 1968 where he directed choral activities and many regional, national and international concert tours. The international tours featured the Wyoming State Choir and the University Choirs to Europe, England, the Soviet Union, Poland and Mexico City.

His accomplishments vary from founding and directing the Wyoming State Choir that consisted of members from twelve Wyoming communities and conducting several Japanese choirs while on sabbatical in Japan in 1987. In 1977 Weiss earned the Outstanding Faculty Member Award for his many accomplishments in expanding Wyoming students and knowledge of the Music Arts.
