Biographical History

Thomas DeLio is an international renowned American experimental music composer and author. His music has been influenced by John Cage, Morton Feldman, and Iannis Xenakis. He has written for soloists, chamber music, and orchestra but is most noted for his computer music. His compositions have been recorded on numerous labels in America, France, Germany, and Italy. His essays have been published in The Journal of Music Theory, Perspectives of New Music, Interface, Artforum, Contemporary Music Review (London), Revue d'Esthetique (Paris), and MusikText (Cologne). He received a Bachelor of Music Degree from the New England Conservatory where he studied under Robert Cogan, and a PhD from Brown University where he combined study in music, visual arts, and mathematics. He is currently a professor in music theory and composition at the University of Maryland, College Park and was formerly professor of theory and composition at the New England Conservatory in Boston and Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts.
