Biographical History

Baker, a resident of Lawrence, Mass., was an inventor and manufacturer. He held many patents, including those for a wide variety of loom improvements; an automatic loom; hydroelectric power transmitters; a kinematograph, a device added to a lantern slide projector to give images the appearance of moving; and submarine devices, including a design for a work chamber to help avoid problems with pressure when workers made long-term repairs.
