Biographical History
Company F and Company G of the 53rd Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Regiment were recruited in Luzerne and Potter counties during the summer of 1861. The regiment participated in the battles of Fair Oaks, Malvern Hill, Antietam, Fredericksburg, Gettysburg, Spotsylvania, Petersburg and Five Forks. The regiment was mustered out of service on June 30, 1865.
