Biographical History

Missionary; born Bernard Leonard Jack Litchman January 15, 1890; converted in 1912 through ministry of Dr. R.A. Torrey; left the U.S. in 1917 for the Belgian Congo to work with Africa Inland Mission among the Balendu tribe; received training in tropical medicine in Belgium and became a health officer for the Belgian government in addition to his missionary activities; taught better disease control and agriculture; established schools; held evangelistic meetings; forced out of the Congo in 1961 due to the revolution in the Congo; retired to the AIM retirement home in Clermont, FL, where he lived until his death in 1972.
