Biographical History
The Oxford Group was a nondenominational revivalistic Christian movement, primarily Protestant. Its founder was American churchman Dr. Frank N. D. Buchman whose followers believed that the root problems in the world were dishonesty, selfishness and fear within men and nations. Their credo was that spiritual recovery from within must precede economic recovery, and that political and social solutions did not deal adequately with these root problems. The Group held conferences in the United States, England, the Netherlands, South Africa, and other countries. The United States headquarters were located in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. In 1938, the group changed its name to Moral Re-Armament.
