Biographical History
Samuel Arnold, born in Haddam, was a member of the state house of representatives in 1839, 1842, 1844 and 1851. He was elected to Congress and served from 1857-1859. In addition, he was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1860 and 1864.
A Haddam, Conn., bank president, ship owner, farmer, agent for the town fund, and U.S. Congressman, elected in 1857.
