Hong Cheong Cheok was the co-author of The Chinese question in Australia, 1878-1879, published in 1879.

Missionary and social reformer. Cheong was born in China in 1853?. He came to Ballarat in the 1850's with his father who was a Presbyterian missionary. Cheong was educated in Melbourne. In 1873 Cheong joined the Presbyterian congregation in Fitzroy, Melbourne and worked among the Chinese people. He became a leader of the Church Missionary Society of Victoria in about 1885. Following some problems, Cheong was sacked in 1898. Later he formed a new organisation called the Church Missionary Society of Victoria - Reformed.
