Biographical History

The V & T was a standard-gauge road connecting Virginia City with the Central Pacific (later the Southern Pacific) at Reno. Built in 1869-1870, with a side extension from Carson City to Minden constructed in 1905, the road ran its last train in 1950, 12 years after abandonment of the Virginia City end of the line.
