Robert E. Pomeranz (1917-1997) of Sanford, N.C., was an entrepreneur and civic leader. He founded the Roberts Company in 1948 and operated it until 1970.

Summer 1942 Employed by Edwards Company division of Rogers Diesel and Aircraft Corp. in Sanford, N.C. 1943 1948 Employed by Edwards Company division of Rogers Diesel and Aircraft Corp. in Sanford, N.C. 1947 Married Annie Laurie Overton of Sanford, N.C. 1948 General partner of the Roberts Company with Henry Stroud as limited partner. 1955 Redeemed Henry Stroud's shares and became sole proprietor of Roberts Company. 1956 Roberts Company stock sold publicly. 1958 Roberts de Mexico, S.A., chartered as Roberts's first wholly owned foreign subsidiary and Roberts Italia, S.A., organized in Milan as a buying and sales office. 1959 Licensed Hobourn Aero Components to manufacture the Arrow Frame in the United Kingdom and formed Hobourn Robert Sales Corp to sell the frame in Europe and the Middle East. 1960 Added aluminum die casting department. 1961 Bought Southeastern Loom and Machine Works in Greenwood, S.C. 1962 Acquired Black Panther, Inc., and manufactured charcoal products. 1965 Acquired Arundel Coulthard & Co. of Stockport, England. 1970 Roberts Company declared bankruptcy. 1997 Died.
