Biographical History

Eliza Fairbanks Hooper of Franklin, Massachusetts, studied at the Bradford (Massachusetts) Academy, and taught school in Hopkinton, Massachusetts. In 1827, she joined a group of missionaries to the Choctaw Nation at mission stations in Elliot and Mayhew, Mississippi, which were sponsored by the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions. She married fellow missionary William Hooper in 1828, and he died later that year.
