Jones family.

Lynds Jones (1865-1951), the son of Publius Jones of Jefferson, Ohio, transferred from Grinnell College in Iowa to Oberlin College in 1890. He received both his bachelor's and master's degrees from Oberlin College and in 1905, received his Ph. D. from the University of Chicago. In 1899, he began to teach ornithology in the college's Department of Zoology. Noted for his expertise on birds and bird migration, Lynds Jones taught at Oberlin College until his retirement in 1930. George T. Jones (b. 1897), represented the second generation of the Jones Family to teach and live in the Oberlin Community. Like his father, George Jones also received both his bachelor's and master's degrees from Oberlin College. In 1924, Oberlin College appointed him as an Instructor of Botany. He later received his Ph. D from the University of Chicago in 1935. His fields of specialization included animal ecology, plant ecology, and plant morphology. Jones also worked at the Oberlin College Herbarium where he collected and cataloged various types of plant material. Although he retired from teaching in 1963, George Jones continues to be active in the Oberlin community.
