Biographical History

The Cambridge Union Society was formed in 1814 out of an amalgamation of three exisiting student debating societies. The society first met in a room at the Red Lion in Petty Cury. It moved several times subsequently, before finally settling at its present location in 1866, behind the Round Church. During the academic year the Society organises debates and hosts guest speakers.
