Biographical History

William Tipping, 1598-1649, was the younger son of Sir George Tipping of Wheatfield and Draycott, Oxfordshire. He was educated at Queen's College, Oxford (B.A., 1617) and then, in 1618, became a student at Lincoln's Inn, before giving up the law and returning to Oxfordshire. He joined the Parliamentary cause and took the covenant. From 1640 he was the incumbent of the living at Shabbington in Oxfordshire, which was in the gift of the Tipping family

From the guide to the Collection of English religious poetry (Puritan), probably by William Tipping, ca.1701-1725, (GB 206 Leeds University Library)
