Biographical History

The Nuremberg Trials were held from 1945 to 1949 at the Palace of Justice in Nuremberg, Germany to try members of the Nazi regime for crimes committed during World War II. The trial of the major war criminals was held from November 20, 1945 to October 1, 1946. The second set of trials of lesser war criminals included medical doctors who were accused of medical atrocities in the Holocaust.

Charles J. Gallagher applied for a temporary position with the Office of U.S. Chief of Counsel, Administrative Division of the U.S. Army, as a court reporter for the Nuremberg Trials. He was in Nuremberg from 1945-1946 and 1947-1950; his family joined him the second trip. Charles J. Gallagher attended Northwestern University Law School (class of 1924) and worked and lived in the Chicago area.

Charles Gallgher died on January 4, 1988.
