American jurist.

Gray graduated from Harvard College (1845) and Harvard Law School (1849), and served as reporter of the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts (1854-1861) and was appointed as a justice in 1864. In 1881 he was appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court.
