Franchetti, Michael. Deputy Attorney General, Chief Deputy Attorney General, Director of Finance. 1942-

Michael Franchetti, born in 1942, joined the California Attorney General's office as a deputy attorney general in 1959 after receiving his law degree and serving in the U.S. army in Vietnam. Serving under Evelle Younger, Attorney General, in 1970 Franchetti analyzed bills for the attorney general's office and came to know State Senator George Deukmejian. When Mr. Deukmejian was elected Attorney General in 1978, Franchetti became the chief deputy attorney general, and ran the office when Mr. Deukmajian campaigned for governor in 1982. When Mr. Deukmejian was elected governor, Franchetti became director of finance until the California State Senate refused to confirm him in 1983. Since leaving government in January 1984, Franchetti has lobbied and practiced law.
