Biographical History
Tikal was the largest of the ancient Maya cities, located in what is now the Department of Petén, Guatemala. The site is noted among other things for numerous dedicatory steles dating from between the 3rd and 9th centures A.D. Composed 1945.--Cf. Fleisher Collection.
