1882, Nov. 6 Born, Newport, R.I. circa 1889 Stage debut circa 1898 Broadway debut 1907 Married Elinor Kershaw 1910 Began work in motion pictures Acted in films for the Biograph and Independent Motion Pictures companies Directed Little Nell's Tobacco for Independent Motion Pictures Co., his first film 1911 Joined New York Motion Picture Co. and moved to California to make westerns circa 1912 Built "Inceville," studio compound near Santa Monica, Calif. 1913 Directed his first feature length film, The Battle of Gettysburg 1915 Formed Triangle Motion Picture Co., with D. W. Griffith and Mack Sennett Built studio in Culver City, Calif. 1916 Produced and directed Civilization 1919 Built Thomas H. Ince Studios, Culver City, Calif. 1920 Formed Associated Producers, an independent releasing company, along with producers and directors such as Mack Sennett and Maurice Tourneur 1924, Nov. 18[?] Died near San Diego, Calif., after falling ill aboard yacht of William Randolph Hearst From the guide to the Thomas H.
