Ketting, E. Ogden (Edward Ogden), 1899-1968.

Businessman. Born January 28, 1899 in Kankakee, IL; died in Chicago, IL, April 9, 1968. Attended Marquand School in Brooklyn, New York, and Princeton University. Close and trusted associate of Samuel Insull and friend of Samuel Insull, Jr. Starting as an office boy in the Insull offices in 1921, E. Ogden Ketting rose through the ranks of the firm to become the private secretary of Samuel Insull and Assistant Secretary of Commonwealth Edison Company before being appointed as managing director of Insull, Son & Co., Ltd., in London in February 1928. In September 1930 he was elected deputy chairman of Insull, Son & Co., Ltd., thus making him the ranking officer of Insull, Son & Co., abroad. In 1927 Ketting was named Assistant Secretary of Insull, Son & Co., the parent company of Insull, Son & Co., Ltd., and the following year became its Vice President. Ketting resigned as an officer of Insull, Son & Co. in July 1932 after the company went into receivership. Following the close of Insull, Son & Co., Ltd., Ketting joined the brokerage firm of Spencer Trask & Co. in London. He held positions as a commodities trader, was affiliated with the Chicago Board of Trade, and associated with the firms of Hallgarten & Co. and Fuller, Rodney & Redmond. In 1942 he retired to his farm "Headacres" near Libertyville, IL, where he engaged in a successful dairy farming business.
