Biographical History

Historian. Alan Frost is an academic and historian whose research interests include the European exploration of the Pacific Ocean, the colonisation of New South Wales, and colonial Australia. In 1970 he joined La Trobe University where he is currently Professor of History. Frost's publications include Arthur Phillip, 1738-1814: his voyaging (1987), Botany Bay mirages: illusions of Australia's convict beginnings (1994) and The global reach of empire: Britain's maritime expansion in the Indian and Pacific Oceans 1764-1815 (2003).
