The additional papers of the Poor family not only supplement the Poor Family Papers (A-132) but also highlight the related branches of the family: the Pierce family, the Bayley family, the Fox family, and the Chandler family, rounding out the family's connections. Business editor and financial analyst Henry Varnum Poor married Mary Wild Pierce in 1841 at the First Congregational Church in Brookline, Massachusetts. Henry and Mary had six children: Agnes Blake (1842-1922), Henry William (1844-1915), Mary; Evangeline (b.1853), Lucy Tappan (b.1855), Mary Merrill (Poor) Chandler (1860-1918), and Charles (b.1861). Henry William Poor was married in 1880 to Constance Evelyn Brandon (1859-1921). They had five children: Henry Varnum (1880-1931), Edith (Poor) Cochrane (b.1882), Roger Merrill (1883-1923), Pamela (Poor) Harris (b.1892), and Constance Mary Evelyn (Poor) Stumper Zerbee. Pamela (Poor) Harris served with the American Red Cross during World War I. She married Peyton Randolph Harris in 1923 and had two children: Pamela and Peyton Randolph Harris Jr.
Mary Merrill Poor was married in 1882 to Alfred Dupont Chandler (1847-1923), son of Elizabeth Julia (Schlatter) and Theophilus Parsons Chandler. Mary and Alfred had six children: Charles Lyon (b.1884), Henry (b.1886), Theophilus (b.1888), Alfred "Ralf" Dupont Chandler (1892-1982), and twins Elizabeth and William (b.1893). Alfred Dupont Chandler was married in 1917 to Caroline "Carol" Johnston Ramsay (1893-1987), daughter of Caroline Johnston (Canby) (1872-1958) and William Gouverneur Ramsay (1866-1916). Carol and Ralf had five children: Alfred "Alfie" (and later "Al") Dupont Chandler (1918-2007), Caroline "Nina" Johnston (Chandler) Murray (b.1920), Mary "Quita" (Chandler) Parrish (b.1921), William "Will" (b.1923), and Sophie (Chandler) Consagra.
