Biographical History
Feminist. Co-founder of the Women's Service Guild of Western Australia, 1909. Co-founder and President, Australian Federation of Women Voters, 1921-1942. In the later years of her life Rischbieth clashed with Jessie Street, whom she labelled a communist.
Campaigner for a number of causes in W.A. including women's rights (she co-founded the Australian Federation of Women Voters in 1921), Aboriginal welfare, public and mental health, conservation and the environment. Her last battles were to prevent a swimming pool being built in Kings Park and to prevent further reclamation of the Swan River.
