Biographical History
The family settled temporarily near El Campo, Texas. Moved to Stamford, Texas in 1920. Daughters Mina and Else Hildegarde Wolf attended Texas Technological College, and eventually became noted college professors at Tech.
Ilse Hildegarde Wolf. Home economics educator and Texas Tech University professor. Raised in Stamford, Texas. Received M.A. of Education in Home Economics from the University of Texas, 1939, and D. Ed. from Columbia University in 1957. Taught in Texas public schools, 1935- 1939. Worked as itinerate teacher trainer for the Texas State Department of Education, 1939-1942. Joined the faculty of Texas A & I in 1942, and Oklahoma State University in 1944. Served as chairperson, 1955-1965. In 1950, served as the Marshall Plan's home economics educational consultant in Germany. Joined Texas Technological College in 1965 as Professor of Home and Family Life. Retired 1972 as emeritus. Sister to Mina Wolf Lamb. Neice to Thomas A. Hickey, noted socialist.
