Baldwin, Sidney, 1885-1978

Sidney Baldwin (1885-1978) was born in Peoria, Illinois. In 1898 she began writing for the Peoria Star, founded by her father, Eugene F. Baldwin. She later became a drama critic and wrote the column In my opinion for the Star. Baldwin also wrote for the Ladies' Home Journal, was a commentator on radio progams and was a regular comlumnist for the Boothbay register. She wrote several books, including two children's books set on an island off the coast of Maine - Ben of old Monhegan and Marjorie of Monhegan.

Later, she became a drama critic and wrote the column "In My Opinion" for the Star. Baldwin also wrote for the Ladies' Home Journal, was a commentator on radio progams, and wrote several books (including two on Maine life) and articles. She served as vice president of the Journal-Star and was a regular columnist for the Maine Boothbay Register .
