Biographical History

Capt. John Bargrave, (ca. 1578 - ca. 1627), an early Virginia planter, father of Dr. John Bargrave (1610-1680). In 1623, following a conflict with Thomas Smith and other Virginia Company officials, he submitted A Forme of Polisie to Plante and Governd many families in Virginiae soe it shall Naturally Depend on the Soveraignetye of England."
