Biographical History

Eaton was a New Jersey congressman from 1925 to 1953.

Charles A. Eaton was a Congressman from representing New Jersey's 4th and 5th congressional districts from 1925-1953. Born in Nova Scotia in 1868, Eaton was graduated from Acadia University, Nova Scotia on 1890 and from New Theological Institution, Newton Center, Massachusetts in 1893. He was an editor for Leslie's Weekly (1919-1920) the Toronto Globe, and the Boston Transcript between 1896-1901; head of the national service section of the United States Shipping Board Emergency Fleet Corporation between 1917-1919. He entered politics in 1925. In February 1945 Franklin D. Roosevelt appointed Eaton as a delegate to the United Nations Conference in San Francisco. In June 1945 Eaton was a signatory to the Charter. Eaton died in 1953.
