Biographical History

William W. Sale traveled to Dawson in 1899 to join his brother Jack. After working in the Wade Creek mining district, Will went to Nome where he worked as deputy recorder and insurance clerk. After a trip to California he met Neeta Tobey in Nome. They married and stayed in Nome until 1912 after which they moved to Seattle and then Los Angeles. While in Nome the Sales collected native artifacts which are now housed at the Alaska State Museum (Juneau).
