English scholar.

Editor and literary scholar Alexander Dyce was born and raised in Edinburgh, and educated at Exeter College, Oxford. He is probably best remembered for scholarly editions of classical British dramatists, such as Christopher Marlowe, George Peel, and John Webster. He also produced a notable nine-volume edition of Shakespeare's plays, and numerous literary biographies. In addition to scholarly pursuits, he was a curate, and a book collector who amassed a valuable library featuring rare Elizabethean books, which he bequeathed to the South Kensington Museum.
