Biographical History

Established in 1981 on the recommendation of Chancellor Pye's Advisory Committee on the Arts, the Institute aims to integrate the arts into the educational process, particularly at the undergraduate level, and to promote cooperation between the various disciplines. English professor James Applewhite was the first director.
