Saturday Evening Post editor.

From the description of Papers of George Horace Lorimer [manuscript], 1937 January 2-February 20. (University of Virginia). WorldCat record id: 647806506

George Horace Lorimer was born in Kentucky, attended Yale briefly, but left to work for Philip D. Armour's meat packing company; a later business venture failed, and Lorimer went to Boston to try his hand at journalism, working for several newspapers. In 1898 he wrote Cyrus Curtis to ask for a job with the Saturday Evening Post; while Curtis went abroad to look for a permanent editor, Lorimer managed the Post, impressing Curtis and winning the job. He became managing editor of the Post in 1899, raising it from a circulation of under 2,000 to over one million within ten years. He retired from the Post in 1936; his leadership, innovations, and policies made it one of the most popular, successful, and influential magazines of its time.

From the description of George H. Lorimer letter to Harvey Thomas, 1924 July 2. (Pennsylvania State University Libraries). WorldCat record id: 66267159
