Biographical History
American writer. Received her masters' degree under Wallace Stegner at Stanford University, 1956. Known particularly for her THE DEAD OF THE HOUSE, 1972.
Hannah Green died in 1996, six months after her "classic work, " THE DEAD OF THE HOUSE, originally published by Doubleday in 1972, was reissued in paperback form by Books & Company/Turtle Point Press. Married to the artist John Wesley, Ms. Green was born in Glendale, Ohio; studied with Wallace Stegner and Vladimir Nabokov; and taught at Stanford, Columbia, and New York universities. This work had essentially been completed before her death, but final editing was completed in 1999 by Jack Wesley, Sarah Glasscock, and Sam Vaughan of Random House, her publisher. The corrections on these proofs are their work.
