Boyd and Kettering were General Motors Corporation men. General Motors Institute of Technology was named for Kettering in the 1990s. The Clarke Historical Library has a published copy of Professional Amateur : The Biography of Charles Franklin Kettering.
Ohio State University ('18, '38, '53) noted for his work with Thomas Midgley on the development of ethyl gasoline. He was awarded the Lamme medal in 1939.
