Biographical History

Very little biographical information was available regarding Lucy Williams, creator of this collection, other than that she lived in Holyhead and evidently took an active interest in the history of the Anglesey town. She also contributed many articles to the Transactions of the Anglesey Antiquarian Society and Field Club on the history of Holyhead.

Margaret Jones was the daughter of William Thomas of Aberffraw and Holyhead, the hymn writer. She married Captain R. Jones and died in 1852. Her father, William Thomas, was a much respected deacon of Bethel Wesleyan Chapel in Holyhead and worked as a saddler for the Royal Mail coach service at Holyhead. His poems were published in Ehediad y Meddwl (1862) and include an elegy for his daughter.
