Biographical History

Evelyn Peverley Coe was born Isabella Evelyn Peverley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Peverley. In 1906 she married Richard Davenport Coe; at some point the Coes moved to Massachusetts, where she served in a number of organizations devoted to woman suffrage and to war service work. She was chairman of the Public Service and the War Service Committees of the Boston Equal Suffrage Association (BESA), secretary of the Massachusetts branch of the Congressional Union, secretary of the Executive Committee for the BESA Suffrage Coffee House at Ayer (Mass.), and later director annd executive secretary of the Soldiers' and Sailors' Club of Boston.
